Pre-orders Being Accepted for DVD Version of Bruce Campbell's Going Back
There has been a lot of excitement among Bruce Campbell fans since the announcement of
the release date for the DVD version of Going Back, a coming-of-age drama shot in Michigan
not long after The Evil Dead. Fans can begin placing pre-orders for the DVD edition of this
rare Bruce Campbell feature film with
Amazon.com
and other retailers, as well as directly on
www.goingbackthemovie.com. DVDs pre-ordered online will be
shipped on the release date October 17, 2006. Others can be picked up at the stores on that date.
Trygve Lode, owner of Bifrost Distribution, said, "We're very excited to be distributing
Going Back. Besides being an excellent movie, it highlights a more innocent, more romantic
side of Bruce Campbell than he's had the opportunity to express in other films. We were especially
lucky that Bruce was able to return to the studio during the preparation of the DVD bonus material
to record a fascinating and often hilarious commentary track with director Ron Teachworth and
cinematographer John Prusak."
Marketing has been evolving rapidly with the changes in technology and smaller companies like
Bifrost can take advantage of such changes. "Besides the usual print ads and 'top-down' promotion
and advertising," Trygve said, "we're using a 'grass roots' approach and communicating directly
on the Internet with Bruce Campbell fans who have been searching for this long-lost film and
other fans who didn't even know it existed. This kind of 'viral marketing' campaign, transmitted
by word-of-mouth, and, more especially, over the Web, can take on a life of its own. It's the
best way to reach a diverse market like Bruce's fans."
The release of the Going Back DVD is already being discussed in websites, bulletin boards, forums
and blogs all over the Web, and the Going Back trailer is available on
Myspace.com,
Youtube.com,
Google Video
and many other places.
